In the past, local people believe that, when a person dies, his or her spirit leaves the island from this place called Polihale. It is a long stripe of golden beach hidden behind lush bushes at the end of a very muddy unpaved road in the southwest part of Kauai. To the north, the steep cliffs comprise the south end of the famous Na Pali Coast.
After a sudden downpour, a rainbow appeared at the end of the beach against the dark cliffs. Up to the left, there is actually a second faint rainbow.
