Edge Detection Results
- Using EdgeDetector 1.1
These are the results of edge detection obtained by using
EdgeDetector 1.1 with various combinations
of the two parameters: Edge contrast lower limit (LL) and edge
strength (ES). Images in each section correspond to the ES
parameter list at the top of the section in the order of from left
to right in each row, and from top to bottom row.
In comparison with the results from EdgeDetector 1.0, the
main improvement is that more edges close to one another are detected. It should
be noted that different values for LL and ES are used here. Strictly speaking, the
only case where the results from the two versions of EdgeDetector are comparable
is when both LL and ES are 100.0.
The head image was downloaded from Dave Eberly's
page. Again, when Gaussian
smoothing was applied before using EdgeDetector 1.1, the results
may be quite different, and the edges tend to be more connected.
Results were also obtained from synthetic images.
